We built an AI feature because the board asked where our AI roadmap was. Users ignored it. Zero adoption in six weeks. Then we ran a simple experiment: we read two hundred support tickets and highlighted every sentence where users described doing something painful and manual. The pattern was not summarize anything. The pattern was reformatting data between our product and their spreadsheets. Boring, specific, constant. We shipped an AI export that reads messy spreadsheet layouts and maps them to our fields. Adoption hit forty percent in three weeks. Nobody would call it an AI feature at a conference. Users call it the thing that saves their Friday afternoons. Mine your tickets. The roadmap is hiding in the complaints.
